Medicinal Sheepskin long hair

Description

Medicinal sheepskin extra soft long hair XL

Beside of our shorthair medicinal sheepskin, have we got the medicinal long hair sheepskins. The hair of the medicinal long-haired sheepskin is approx. 5 cm long, and because these skins are tanned in the same ecological way as the short-haired medicinal sheepskins, the hair feels silky soft.

Pressure sores

If you are forced to sit or lie down a lot, our medicinal sheep fleeces will help you to prevent bedsores. The Texel medicinal sheepskin rugs are suitable for people who need decubitus prevention or who want more comfort in bed or (wheel)chair.

Bedsores (decubitus) are common in Dutch nursing homes. When patients are bedridden, wounds may develop on the areas with high pressure. Decubitus wounds are very painful and in many cases even preventable.

Since 1998, the medicinal sheepskin has been used in Australian hospitals. A recent study has shown that 91% of patients who lay on a medicinal sheepskin did not develop decubitus.

Our medicinal sheepskins come from the Texel sheep breed.

Due to the Texel climate, the Texel has a firm, thick, frizzy wool with a high lanolin content. Lanolin is a wool fat that has a nurturing effect on the skin.

The medicinal sheepskins have a pleasant firmness that allows them to distribute the pressure of the body, and with the beautiful long soft hairs they also look very nice in your interior.

The advantages of a medicinal sheepskin

Our Texel medicinal sheepskin is pressure regulating, moisture and temperature regulating, irritation free, antibacterial and if necessary washable on a wool wash at 30 degrees.
Because the wool regulates heat, it can adapt to the temperature of the body. This is why the medicinal sheepskin feels wonderfully warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

    FAQs

What is a medicinal sheepskin and what is it used for?

A medicinal sheepskin is short-shorn, washable and specially tanned. This tanning process often gives it a slightly yellower colour than a regular sheepskin. Medicinal sheepskins are used in healthcare or at home for extra comfort when sitting or lying down for long periods of time. They are ideal for use in bed, on a chair or in a wheelchair. The skin ensures good pressure distribution, helps prevent bedsores and can provide relief for joint problems.

Can I wash a medicinal sheepskin?
es, a medicinal sheepskin is washable (in moderation). Do not wash it too often, as this will preserve the lanolin.
Wash a medicinal sheepskin on a special wool wash programme with a wool detergent. Do this at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees. Then allow the sheepskin to dry slowly (e.g. in the bathroom) and gently stretch the skin while drying. This will make it supple again.
Is my medicinal sheepskin covered by my health insurance?
All our medicinal skins have an AGB code with which you can request a claim. It is best to check with your health insurance provider whether the skin will be reimbursed. The reimbursement depends on your insurance and the nature of the complaints.

    ✓ AGB claim code: 76091238
    ✓ Qualification code: 7600
    ✓ G-Standard / Z-index code: 17102847
