Medicinal lambskin 100x60 cm made from Texel sheepskin
Looking for a smaller medicinal sheepskin? This medicinal sheepskin has been shorn short and is therefore ideal for complaints that arise from sitting or lying down for long periods of time. The smaller size of the medicinal Texel sheepskin can easily be used in the seat of a chair or, for example, at the foot of the bed.
The Unique Advantages of Our Medicated Sheepskins
Natural pressure reduction and prevention of pressure ulcers
Our medicated lambskin is designed to distribute pressure evenly, preventing pressure ulcers. The closely cropped wool of this Texel sheepskin forms a soft, supportive layer that relieves local pressure points. Ideal for use under the tailbone or at the foot end to relieve pressure on the heels.
A sheepskin does not overheat due to its moisture and temperature regulating effect
The natural wool of the Texel sheep has moisture and temperature regulating properties. This means that the wool in the coat breathes and wicks away moisture, regardless of the temperature. This prevents the coat from overheating or sweating and creates a pleasant and dry climate for your skin.
Our Texel sheepskins are natural and sustainable
Our skins come from sheep that have lived freely on the island of Texel. The Texel sheep is also known for its thick, resilient wool, which results in a beautiful quality medicinal sheepskin. A truly natural, sustainable and local product.
Use and washing of a medicinal sheepskin
Ideal for relieving local pressure complaints
The smaller size of this medicinal lambswool makes it ideal for the targeted relief of pressure points. Its size makes it easy to use in your chair, or in bed for your heels or under your tailbone. If you would prefer a larger fleece to support your entire body or if you have complaints in several areas, you might want to consider our extra large medicinal sheepskin.
Care product for prolonged sitting or lying down
This medicinal sheepskin is an essential care product for anyone who sits or lies down for long periods of time. It offers natural relief and helps prevent bedsores.
Keep the sheepskin hygienic by washing the sheepskin fleece
A medicinal sheepskin can be washed in moderation. So only wash your coat when it is really necessary. Wool is dirt-repellent, so frequent washing is not really necessary. Wash the coat in the machine on a special wool programme at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees. It is best to let the coat dry as slowly as possible. Air dry it and definitely do not put it in the dryer! The rotating motion of the drum will felt the wool. So hang the coat to dry in the bathroom, preferably lying flat. While drying, you can occasionally stretch the coat so that the leather becomes supple again.

Texel sheepskins from the Texelaar breed
Our medicinal skins come from the Texel breed of sheep.

Most of the lanolin is retained during the tanning process, preserving the softness, natural shine, and antibacterial properties.
This makes Texel medicinal sheepskin extremely suitable for healthcare applications and for people with sensitive skin.
What is medicinal sheepskin?
Medicinal sheepskin, also known as medical sheepskin, is a specially tanned product.
This sheepskin is sheared short and tanned in a special way, giving it a pleasant firmness while remaining soft to the skin.
The special tanning process ensures that the skin remains washable and free of harmful substances.
This makes these skins safe for daily use in care and healthcare institutions.
Regular sheepskin is mainly intended as a decorative product, while medicinal sheepskin is really intended as a care aid.

Skéépe Medicinal Sheepskin XXL for in Bed (130x85 cm)
Extra large sheepskin to sleep on
Relieve pressure complaints naturally
This Texel Medicinal Sheepskin XXL is the largest sheepskin for relieving pressure complaints and painful joints. Its large size makes this medicinal sheepskin best suited for bed or hospital bed. Are you in pain while lying down or bedridden?
Sleeping or lying on the sheepskin prevents pressure sores. Thanks to the wool, pressure on the body is damped and the skin can still breathe. In addition, a sheepskin offers warmth for sore muscles and aching joints and promotes blood circulation.
What is a Medicated Sheepskin?
A medicinal sheepskin is a specially tanned sheepskin designed to be used as a healthcare product. The tanning process aims to preserve the wool's natural properties, such as lanolin, which is skin-friendly and hypoallergenic. This makes it an ideal product for people who lie in bed for long periods of time, are rehabilitating or need extra comfort and support. In addition, a medicated sheepskin is washable and the wool is dirt-repellent and antibacterial.
Because the wool of a medicated sheepskin is sheared short, an even surface of upright wool hairs is created, which absorbs pressure on the body. As air is allowed to flow through these wool hairs equally, the skin is not sealed and continues to breathe.
A sheepskin as a care product:
Our medicinal sheepskins are mainly used as a care product and are ideally suited for use during rehabilitation or hospitalisation, where you are bed-bound for a longer period of time.
Our Skéépe brand has AGB codes, with which you can obtain reimbursement for the purchase of your coat in consultation with your health insurance company.

Medical sheepskin underblanket, for over the mattress of your bed
This underblanket consists entirely of Texel medical sheepskin on top. As a result, your entire body experiences the benefits of sleeping on a medical sheepskin or lambskin rug. Sheepskins that are tanned medicinally and have a short sheared fleece are ideal for preventing or relieving pain. These include joint pain, muscle pain and also bedsores/decubitus. The latter complaints can result from prolonged lying or sitting in one position.
How does a sheepskin work against pain?
Because the coat has short-shaved wool hairs, it creates a nice even surface with upright hairs. These hairs feel naturally soft but together they absorb the pressure created when lying down or sitting. This places less strain on the body and reduces pain.
In addition, medical sheepskins are tanned medicinally. This is a special process using mimosa flower and oak bark, among others, which gives the fleece a more yellowish colour. Because of this medicinal tanning, the coats are extra soft for sensitive skin and are washable (in moderation).
For smaller areas of application, you can also consider our Medicinal sheepskin small.
