Wheelchair insert / cushion made of medicinal sheepskin

This insert cushion for wheelchair, mobility scooter or stand-up chair, is made of a 100% Texel and natural lambskin. The cushion consists of one part that consists of both a seat cushion and back cushion. This makes sitting in a wheelchair or mobility scooter much more comfortable for the seat, tailbone but also the back.

The pressure-relieving effect of sheepskin is created by the even woollen surface of the fur. The wool is also heat- and moisture-regulating and therefore very comfortable. This makes sitting in a wheelchair or chair less painful in case of bedsores (decubitus), for example. The curly wool fibre makes the lambskin cosily warm in winter and regulates heat and moisture in summer.

Attaching the sheepskin cushion in your wheelchair 

This sheepskin insert cushion has 4 elastic bands at the back, two of which can be fastened by means of a snap buckle. In this way, the cushion remains firmly in place and can be used universally for any wheelchair or mobility scooter.

Maintenance

The medicated sheepskin, from which this cover is made, is tanned in a special way. This makes the fur washable, but do so sparingly, at a maximum of 30 degrees and with a special wool wash programme and wool detergent. Let the insert dry as slowly as possible after washing.

    Alle medicinale schapenvachten zijn met mate wasbaar. Ze kunnen dus gewassen worden maar als het nog niet echt nodig is, stel het dan liever even uit. Gebruik dan bijvoorbeeld onze wolkam om het vuil er uit te borstelen of laat je schapenvacht even buiten luchten.

    Wil je echt graag wassen? Doe dat dan op de volgende manier:

    • Was op een speciaal wolwasprogramma met een wolwasmiddel.
    • Was nooit hoger dan 30 graden.
    • Laat de vacht na het wassen, zo langzaam mogeijk drogen (nooit in de droger of bij de verwarming!). Laat de vacht liefst plat drogen en bijvoorbeeld in de badkamer. Als de vacht te snel opdroogt, wordt hij stug.
    • Rek tijden het drogen het leer af en toe voorzicht op. Zo zorg je dat je vachtje soepel blijft.

    What is a medicinal sheepskin and what is it used for?

    A medicinal sheepskin is short-shorn, washable and specially tanned. This tanning process often gives it a slightly yellower colour than a regular sheepskin. Medicinal sheepskins are used in healthcare or at home for extra comfort when sitting or lying down for long periods of time. They are ideal for use in bed, on a chair or in a wheelchair. The skin ensures good pressure distribution, helps prevent bedsores and can provide relief for joint problems.

    Can I wash a medicinal sheepskin?
    es, a medicinal sheepskin is washable (in moderation). Do not wash it too often, as this will preserve the lanolin.
    Wash a medicinal sheepskin on a special wool wash programme with a wool detergent. Do this at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees. Then allow the sheepskin to dry slowly (e.g. in the bathroom) and gently stretch the skin while drying. This will make it supple again.
