A lot of Sea Buckthorn bushes are growing on Texel, it is mostly seen on the open and calcareous dunes, the berries are rich of vitamin C. Tea from Texel comes in three different flavors, all the three flavors are mixed with Sea Buckthorn berries.

The ‘Hippophae rhamnoides’ (Sea Buckthorn Berry) is a shrub which grows on Texel’s heathland and dune areas. This berry came to Europe from Tibet during the ice age (17,000 years ago). The berries which grow on this shrub are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
