Medicinal Lambskin for Baby

Description

Texel sheepskin for your baby - safe sleeping

For babies it is wonderful to lie on a Texel sheepskin. The warm and soft wool offers great comfort. Ideal for the crib, playpen or baby carriage.

Comfortable and moisture-regulating

The sheepskin offers warmth when it is cold and coolness when it is warm thanks to its absorbent effect. So in winter your child stays pleasantly warm and in summer it stays cool. It feels safe and familiar and gives a soothing feeling. The sheepskin for babies has a short sheared wool, making it safe to sleep and play.

Reduces the risk of asthma

Research has shown that babies who sleep on a sheepskin are less likely to develop asthma later in life. According to several studies, children who sleep on a sheepskin for the first few months of life are 79% less likely to develop asthma by age 6.

Is a sheepskin safe for my baby?

Our Texel sheepskin is specially made for babies. The babycare lambskin is shaved short. Therefore, your baby can nestle safely in the wool and the hairs do not stick to the fingers or mouth. In addition, the sheepskin for babies is naturally tanned with the yellow mimosa flower and oak bark. This gives the sheepskin a slightly yellower color but is an excellent product for baby's delicate skin. The natural lanolin in the wool is also extra soft and nurturing for the skin.

The advantages of a sheepskin for babies at a glance

  • Safe for the skin: naturally tanned with mimosa and oak bark and nurturing lanoline
  • Safe for sleeping: The wool is moisture-regulating and breathable, no suffocation danger
  • Short shorn lambskin: Gives a wonderful sleeping comfort and the short wool hairs do not twist around the fingers
  • Moisture and heat regulating: Does not fester and gives the right warmth in both winter and summer
  • Reduced risk of asthma
Size

The lambskin is about 90cm long and 50cm wide. Is the sheepskin too big for the crib? If so, you can cut it to size yourself. Simply cut or trim the fleece with sharp scissors or stanley knife.

Also check out our sheepskin inlay for baby carriages or maxi-cosi.

Maintenance: Sheepskin Washing

The medicated lambskins for babies are specially tanned and shaved back short. This makes the lambskins (limited) washable on 30°C wool program.

All our medicated fleeces come with a Skéépe hygiene seal. This assures you of an unused and hygienic sheepskin. Once the seal is broken, the product unfortunately cannot be returned.

All medicinal sheepskins are washable in moderation. They can be washed, but if it is not really necessary, it is better to postpone washing. For example, use our wool comb to brush out the dirt or let your sheepskin air outside for a while.

If you really want to wash it, do so as follows:

    • Wash on a special wool programme with a wool detergent.
    • Never wash at a temperature higher than 30 degrees.
    • After washing, allow the skin to dry as slowly as possible (never in the tumble dryer or near the heating!). It is best to dry the skin flat, for example in the bathroom. If the skin dries too quickly, it will become stiff.
    • Stretch the leather gently from time to time during drying. This will ensure that your sheepskin remains supple.

    FAQs

Is a sheepskin safe for my baby or child?

Yes, the lambskins we select as baby products are safe to use. It is important that the wool is hygienic and short
sheared, so that the wool does not wrap around the fingers or get into the mouth. Please make sure you purchase a product from our baby section.
In addition, sheepskin is breathable and regulates moisture and temperature. However, always keep a close eye on your child while they are sleeping.

What are the benefits of sleeping on a medicinal sheepskin for my child?
A sheepskin regulates temperature, feels soft and comfortable, and contains lanolin, which cares for the skin. It is breathable, absorbs moisture without becoming damp and has natural antibacterial properties. German research has also shown that it reduces the risk of asthma later in life by supporting the immune system.
Does a sheepskin fit in a cot or pram?
Yes, our sheepskins for babies are smaller lambskins and therefore fit perfectly in a cot or pram. As it is a natural product, the size may vary slightly. If the skin is a little too big for your baby, you can consider making it a little smaller. This can be done easily with a sharp knife. This way, you have a custom-made product!
