Underblanket for bed made of medicinal Texel sheepskin

Description

Medical sheepskin underblanket, for over the mattress of your bed

This underblanket consists entirely of Texel medical sheepskin on top. As a result, your entire body experiences the benefits of sleeping on a medical sheepskin or lambskin rug. Sheepskins that are tanned medicinally and have a short sheared fleece are ideal for preventing or relieving pain. These include joint pain, muscle pain and also bedsores/decubitus. The latter complaints can result from prolonged lying or sitting in one position.

How does a sheepskin work against pain?

Because the coat has short-shaved wool hairs, it creates a nice even surface with upright hairs. These hairs feel naturally soft but together they absorb the pressure created when lying down or sitting. This places less strain on the body and reduces pain.

In addition, medical sheepskins are tanned medicinally. This is a special process using mimosa flower and oak bark, among others, which gives the fleece a more yellowish colour. Because of this medicinal tanning, the coats are extra soft for sensitive skin and are washable (in moderation).

For smaller areas of application, you can also consider our Medicinal sheepskin small.

  • Pain relief arising from pressure complaints
  • Prevents and relieves pressure sores
  • Suitable for medical use
  • 100% genuine Texel sheepskin
  • Moderately washable

    FAQs

What is a medicinal sheepskin and what is it used for?

A medicinal sheepskin is short-shorn, washable and specially tanned. This tanning process often gives it a slightly yellower colour than a regular sheepskin. Medicinal sheepskins are used in healthcare or at home for extra comfort when sitting or lying down for long periods of time. They are ideal for use in bed, on a chair or in a wheelchair. The skin ensures good pressure distribution, helps prevent bedsores and can provide relief for joint problems.

Can I wash a medicinal sheepskin?
es, a medicinal sheepskin is washable (in moderation). Do not wash it too often, as this will preserve the lanolin.
Wash a medicinal sheepskin on a special wool wash programme with a wool detergent. Do this at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees. Then allow the sheepskin to dry slowly (e.g. in the bathroom) and gently stretch the skin while drying. This will make it supple again.
Is my medicinal sheepskin covered by my health insurance?
All our medicinal skins have an AGB code with which you can request a claim. It is best to check with your health insurance provider whether the skin will be reimbursed. The reimbursement depends on your insurance and the nature of the complaints.
